About

I am on a little adventure.

I grew up in a smallish town in Oregon and had pretty normal smallish town/suburban upbringing.  At 19 or so I moved to California by way of Iowa and spent about 10 years there.  After riding the Internet wave through bubble and bust (and having some amazing experiences along the way) luck landed me at a large company that has roots in the Pacific Northwest.  In late 2007 I had the company move me, my two cats, hamster, and goldfish out of my little apartment in the middle of everything to a newly purchased house on 15 acres on the outskirts of a quite small town of 7,000.  Once there I added a dog, dairy goats, and chickens to the mix. My life is now that of a technologically advanced wannabe farmer as I strive for the right balance between modern living and living sustainably.

My decision to leave the Silicon Valley and move to a recognized Agricultural Production District seemed a bit dramatic to many, even friends that know me well, but I made the decision both for myself, my family, and for my community.  Our world is changing in more ways than I can imagine and my approach was to take back control of my life in as much as I can while still contributing to society and my community.

I am a proud member of the Snoqualmie Valley Slow Food Convivium, a regular patron of several farmers markets, and willing to stop for most any random farm stand.

The farm took the name Misc or Miscellaneous Farm because when trying to determine what to call the farm the fact that I didn’t yet know what I was doing or what I wanted it to be when it grew up made it a  challenging to settle on a name, so here we are.

The farm was originally on 14.99 forested acres in King County, Washington, but has since moved across town to an open acre+.
